All Saints |
| The Church of All Saints, Sandford was opened in 1884 as a "Chapel of Ease", the parish church of St James, Winscombe being some two miles away. The building was funded by private subscriptions and fund raising. The report in the local paper of the time lists the subscribers and mentions that due to lack of funds there was, as yet, no pulpit.
Until 1964 Sandford was in the parish of Winscombe. At that time it was transferred to the neighbouring parish of Churchill. It is now part of the "United Benefice" of Burrington and Churchill. What this means is that the two parishes now have just one Vicar. There are two churches within the parish of Churchill, St John the Baptist, Churchill, and All Saints, Sandford. There are also two churches within Burrington Parish. They are, Holy Trinity, Burrington, and St Mary's, Langford.

![]() | Since the 1990's All Saints has been involved in a developing partnership with Sandford Methodist Church. The churches now share two sunday services a month. The committee which runs All Saints has recently begun looking at ways of increasing support in the village. Villagers may notice some changes over the coming months. These two photographs show the interior of All Saints with the choir stalls temporarily removed. The Church Committee is seeking permission to to remove them permanently. This will, for example provide a performance space for music and dance groups. It will also give greater flexibility in the types of services which we might introduce. |
